Personal style

Just like fashion, your interior is part of your personal style, something you can combine with the latest trends. At Fashionchick, we offer tips on how to adapt certain fashion, beauty, or lifestyle trends to your own personal style and life. With daily inspiration articles and the What to Wear app, we inspire people and show that all trends are accessible to everyone.

Once a year, we organize the Fashionchick Interior Days, which are all about interior design inspiration and tips (September 12-16). Want to align your interior with current fashion trends? We'll give you some ideas.

1. Combining Fabrics

Super chic and minimalist, playing with fabrics and materials. Leather and knitwear are materials that go well together and enhance each other. This looks beautiful when you work with a monochromatic color palette, but you can also combine different shades that are close together. Think of the contrast between the sofa and the rug or the decorative cushions, or the leather coasters on your marble table. Go for a fabric artwork and let it stand out beautifully against the (brick) wall. You can also play with fabric combinations in your bedroom. Do you love velvet curtains? Then keep the rest airy and light with thinner materials. And a linen duvet cover, for example, also looks beautiful with a satin pillowcase (also good for your skin and hair) and a cotton bedspread.

2. Purple

This year's Pantone color is veri peri, a shade of purple close to violet that we will see a lot of, especially in the fall, both on the streets and in your home. So add a touch of purple to your interior this fall; from striking items like an ottoman or artwork to tablecloths, towels, and smaller accessories like candles. It instantly creates a warm and homey feeling.

3. Color Blocking

Bright colors are the order of the day this year and in the coming period, preferably combined. The most clashing colors really come alive together. Do this subtly with candles, a color-blocked table decoration, or play around with your towel and tea towel set. And if you still want to paint a wall, you know what to do.

4. Prints

Especially if you love minimalist (Scandinavian) design, it's fun to try something new and different, like a print. Prints never really go out of style, and you can use them in so many ways indoors. From floral wallpaper to a retro kitchen floor, your throw blanket on the sofa, or a leopard-print chaise longue, in the right place in your home, it can look beautiful without looking too busy. If it still feels like too much, a printed kimono or a beautiful, colorful bouquet of flowers will also do the trick.

5. Statement Pieces

Boldness and exuberance are a natural fit for 2022, and that trend is set to continue. That doesn't mean everything has to be completely over-the-top, but you can definitely make a statement with certain clothing, accessories, or furniture. Consider where the focus in your home should be. Is it a striking painting, a unique lamp, or an oversized vase? Focus on one eye-catching piece and keep the rest of your interior a bit more understated.
